DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — Tanzania Dar Es Salaam Stock opened the week on a negative mood after the equity market capitalization dropped TZS 19 billion (about US$8 million) to end at TZS 21,091 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 21,111 billion recorded at previous trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) marginally fell by 2.19 points or 0.09 percent to end at 2,407.52 points. Also, Tanzanian domestic Share Index slight went down by 0.17 points or 0.004 percent to end at 4,592.28 points.
In term of the sector, the Banks, Finance & Investment sector remained unchanged at 3,086.15 points. Industrial & Allied sector index remained unchanged to close at 6,130.88 points and Commercial services sector index plunged by 4.19 points or 0.11 percent to close at 3,932.32.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 2,118.89 million from 5,677,514 shares traded in 48 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 83.36 million from 34,939 shares traded in 44 deals. CRDB traded 5,653,282 shares traded in 18 deals and Mkombozi Commercial Bank exchanged 23,590 shares in 20 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company traded 2 shares in 1 deal. Tanzania Portland Cement Company traded 5 shares in 1 deal and Swissport Tanzania Limited had 43 shares in 4 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited registered 202 shares in 2 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with one gainer and six laggards. Acacia Mining Limited gained 3.33 percent to settle at TZS 7,130. Whereas, Kenya Airways Limited dipped by 8.33 percent to close at TZS 110 and East Africa Breweries Limited close at TZS 5,370 after falling by 1.47 percent. Kenya Commercial Bank slumped by 1.09 percent to end at TZS 910.00, Nation Media Group plunged by 0.66 percent to trade t TZS 3,000 and Jubilee Holdings Limited ended at TZS 10,390 by dropping 0.19 percent.
